Ben has followed many dangerous and disparate elements to at last find a
convergence in 1337. He first trained as a competitive gymnast and moved
on to become an instructor of Kung Fu. He studied Ballet and Modern Dance
at UC Santa Cruz while earning his degree in Biochemistry and Molecular
Biology. His dance works have been presented at the American Dance
Festival in North Carolina and by commission for First Night Santa Cruz.
Ben spent a year in San Francisco studying Contact Improvisation and Pa
Kua while working at Survival Research Laboratories. Upon moving to New
York in 1999 he took up fire spinning and circus arts. After organizing
several fire shows in New York and joining the fire conclave at Burning
Man 2001 Ben and his loving partner, Cassandra founded the collaboration
that became 1337.
Ben is currently an Assistant Researcher in a Molecular Neurobiology lab
and is preparing to undertake graduate school for a PhD. He lives in
Brooklyn with Cassandra, their snake, 2 cats and many beautiful orchids.
